This piece was commissioned by Matthew Brown for the Now Chorale’s spring 2026 cycle. Each piece involved in this project represents a room at the Allen Memorial Art Museum in Oberlin, OH. This piece sets a poem by Kit Seibert reflecting Joseph Wright’s Dovedale by Moonlight (1784). Much of the text is abstract, which was challenging to set, though the piece is unified by a recurring melody separated by multiple sparse, aleatoric-esque sections (despite them being fully notated).
