Upon being asked to write for an ensemble featuring recorder and viola da gamba, I immediately accepted, knowing the piece had to be whimsical. Inspired by my recorder player’s signature wizard hat, this work evokes magical spells in an enchanted forest, with two original fiddle tunes interspersed!
